Local Investment Partners

Finding the right deal is crucial, as is proper and intensive supervision/management of the investments. SOVEC believes that co-operation with a local partner ensures good governance and significantly enhances the rate of success of the investments.

We therefore always invest together with a professional, local VC investment firm. This Local Investment Partner has a track record, a good reputation, a solid market position and has experience with outside shareholders. Its management is professional, solid and trustworthy and also invests own money in the fund. The Local Investment Partner has a focal role in generating and analyzing propositions, monitoring investments and initiating exits. In Ghana, we work with two Local Investment Partners.

We are a shareholder in Fidelity Equity Fund II (FEFII) and consequently, have a seat on the Board of the Fund and hold an observer status in their Investment Committee. Fidelity Capital Partners Ltd. is the management company of FEFII.

In January 2010 we set up a partnership with Oasis Capital (Ghana) Ltd. the management company of the newly established eBankese Venture Fund. We invested in Oasis, hold a Board seat in the company and have an alliance with the eBankese Fund.
